Brooklyn Beckham and fiancée Nicola Peltz have reportedly drawn up a prenuptial agreement to protect their fortunes after they are married.
The 21-year-old son of former England captain David Beckham is set to marry his 25-year-old fiancée, who is the heiress to a billionaire fortune.
The Beckhams are thought to be worth £335 million and the couple have reportedly come to an agreement to leave the marriage “with what they put into it” if they split up.
With their wedding thought to be planned for next year, they have taken this ‘practical step’ so that there is no massive fallout about money if it doesn’t work out.
A source told The Sun : “Prenups may not seem particularly romantic but in the US they’re incredibly common and Nicola’s family all have agreements in place with their partners.
“Brooklyn and Nicola’s decision to go legal was entirely mutual.”
The idea of having a prenup may have stemmed from some of Brooklyn’s previous relationships, which may have not been purely for love.
The source continued: “He’s had experiences of girls desperate to get in on the Beckham name so they’re delighted Nicola loves Brooklyn for him.”
The difference this time is helped by the fact that Nicola is driven by the Beckhams’ money or fame as she has her own career and her family are worth more than three times that of Victoria and David.
It has been reported that the pair have already signed the contract as it was “not complicated”.
It would mean that “both parties will leave the marriage with what they put into it. This includes assets and properties. Money will not change hands.”
Brooklyn met Nicola at the Coachella Music Festival in California in 2017 and they announced their engagement in July after dating for 11 months.
There is a plan to have two different wedding ceremonies, so that both sides of the family can enjoy the nuptials without having to cross the Atlantic.
David and Victoria will host the UK one in the Cotswolds, where they live, while Nicola’s dad Nelson, who lives with his third wife, for model Claudia Heffner Peltz, and had ten children, will see his daughter tie the knot in Florida.
