Gavin and Stacey icons Joanna Page and Mathew Horne have sparked reunion rumours after they were seen on a night out together.
The pair, who played the on-screen lovers, were seen catching up over a few drinks at The Alchemist bar in Cardiff last night.
A fan of the show, who managed to take a photo of the pair, was convinced the stars were filming for a special Christmas Day episode.
It appears the stars were in the city for work purposes, with Joanna hosting her own BBC Radio Wales show on Sunday mornings.
The pair, who sat in one of the booths on Beaujolais Day, posed for a selfie with Gavin and Stacey fan Kirstie Smith from Swansea, according to Wales Online.
Kirstie, who was in the bar with her boyfriend, was sat in the next booth on the other side of a plastic screen fitted to maintain social distancing.
She said: “I was so chuffed to see them but obviously gutted due to what’s going on I couldn’t actually go up to them properly but at least I managed to get a quick picture.”
The pair were also spotted by another onlooker who posted on Twitter : “Don’t want anyone to lose their s*** but I’ve just seen Gavin and Stacey in Cardiff walking past me. Filming?”
Last month Gavin & Stacey co-creator Ruth Jones hinted that fans could one day find out whether Smithy agrees to marry Nessa after last year’s Christmas special ended on a cliffhanger.
Speaking at the Cheltenham Literature Festival, Ruth Jones said the “door is closed but it’s not locked” on further episodes of the hit BBC comedy but there were currently no plans in place.
“I am telling you the truth – there are no plans at the moment to write any more. But, as I said to somebody the other day, the door is closed but it’s not locked.”
While there are currently no plans to record more episodes of the series, Joanna Page said last month that she is “more than happy to do Christmas specials until the end of time”.
She said: “Because it’s so well written and it’s such a lovely job, working with that group of people and watching people like Julia Davis doing her stuff, I just love being in scenes with these actors and having them make me laugh.
“I would be more than happy if they do Christmas specials every year until the end of time.”
She said: “I’ve spent 10 years saying ‘there won’t be anymore, there won’t’ so now I’m just utterly clueless.
“Are they going to surprise us with one more? I wouldn’t be surprised about that, but then I wouldn’t be surprised if there wasn’t anymore and Ruth and James were happy with how it went and draw a line under it.”
