The son of Shane Richie and Coleen Nolan is reportedly considering changing his surname back to Richie to support his famous dad while he’s starring on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!
“I’m going to change my name to Shane Nolan to support my mum,” he proudly declared.
Coleen broke down in tears when she was given the news while still in the house.
A close family friend has now let slip that the eldest son of Shane and Coleen is looking at making the same grand gesture while his famous dad his on the telly.
Shane and Coleen share two sons, Shane Jnr, 31, and Jake, 28, from their nine year marriage.
The insider told the Sun: “Shane Jnr and Jake are massively supportive of their dad and can’t wait to see him on TV again.
“When Coleen was in Celebrity Big Brother he stopped using Richie and is now known as Shane Nolan, he did this to support her and to show her how much he cared and respected her .
“It was really sweet and meant so much. After his mates found out his dad Shane was heading to Wales for I’m A Celeb they joked about whether he would change it back to Richie and he’d said he would think about it. “
Coleen and actor Shane married in 1990 and had two children before splitting up in 1997 and then divorcing in 1999.
After relaunching his career with his part as Alfie Moon in EastEnders, Shane said that he signed up to I’m A Celeb as he’s been left completely skint thanks to the coronavirus.
Shane said: “I was going on tour, doing a TV series and panto but that all got cancelled in March.”
The source also revealed that Shane Snr opted to keep his latest TV venture a complete secret from his eldest kids.
The former EastEnders actor, 56, opted not to tell his boys until he was in isolation.
“Shane Jnr and Jake hadn’t got a clue their dad was going on to the show. He wanted to keep it a total surprise for them and only broke the news once he was in isolation on the set in Wales.”
