Joe Swash has confessed he and girlfriend Stacey Solomon have struggled with “ups and downs” during their relationship in lockdown as they juggle their four kids.
The couple, who have been together for five years, struggled to make their hectic schedules line up before the pandemic but have taken time to really connect with each other amid the chaos this year.
In an interview with The Sun, former EastEnders actor Joe revealed they didn’t know how to cope with the “new normal”at the start.
“At the beginning of lockdown, it was a slight learning process about how we are going to do this.
“We had our moments, we had our ups and downs, but we found our groove and we work well as a team,” the 38-year-old said.
“We’ve got kids so we made it work. I think we’re definitely stronger on the other side of it thankfully.”
He went on to reveal they’re “very tempted” to have another child together.
His comments come just a day after Joe dropped a massive marriage bombshell as he revealed he will “definitely” be asking singer Stacey to marry him.
He finally confirmed getting hitched is on the agenda, addressing the constant rumours.
The pair have remained tight-lipped about their marriage plans, with Stacey even saying any plans were on the back burner as weddings “make her cringe”.
But Joe finally revealed his intentions to marry his beautiful girlfriend in an interview with OK! online.
“It’s something we’re definitely going to do, but when I do it it’s going to be a complete surprise,” he said.
“She’s not going to expect it. It’s going to take her from the sides.
“If it does happen you’ll all know about it.”
Stacey and Joe have been daying since 2015 and have a one-year-old son together, Rex.
Stacey, 31, has two sons from a previous relationship – Zachary, 12, and Leighton, eight.
Joe also has a son from a previous romantic relationship, completing their family unit.
They raise all the kids together happily at their home in Essex.
Earlier this year, Stacey opened up about her romance with Joe on Loose Women.
The telly personality spoke lovingly of her partner and explained that they would try to find some alone time each week during the lockdown.
She’s also been incredibly open about her ongoing battle with anxiety in a series of refreshingly honest clips on social media as she adjusts to new restrictions and life changes.
The mum is currently on a social media break as she has a phone-free few days with her family.
