Lacey Turner has opened up about her heartbreaking miscarriage as she revealed it was happening while she was on her soap set.
The EastEnders star, 32, endured two miscarriages at seven weeks before welcoming her daughter in July last year.
The soap star – who is currently pregnant with her second child – said the tragedy was happening while she worked.
Speaking on Channel 5’s Miscarriage: Our Story programme that is set to air on Thursday, Lacey recalled the devastating moment she found out that she lost her unborn baby.
Explaining what happened when she went back to work the next day, Lacey says she “carried on like nothing happened…I probably was walking round feeling so heartbroken, yet nobody would have had a clue”.
Lacey revealed that she felt lonely following the miscarriage, but admits she made the mistake of not speaking to anyone about it and instead bottled her emotions up.
She recalled: “I felt so lonely and I didn’t speak about it…what we should have done was talked to each other, but because we didn’t it actually made both of us really lonely.”
Following her miscarriages, Lacey underwent tests to find out if there were any underlying medical issues and then went through a period of six months where she didn’t get pregnant.
She then discovered she was expecting for a third time, with Dusty arriving safely in July 2019.
Lacey described getting past the seven week mark as a ‘huge relief’ and said she is counting every milestone.
Lacey and husband Matt both agreed they will leave finding out the gender until the birth and aren’t bothered whether they have a boy or a girl, but said they’d like to have at least three in children in total.
And after her pregnancy gave her another reason to smile, Lacey is hoping she can raise awareness to others and make them feel less alone than she did.
She added: “I found since opening up it has helped myself and many others, it helps to raise awareness and helps people to not feel so alone, something that is a really common feeling when having a miscarriage.”
