NHS doctor Emily Andre issues stark warning over ‘negative’ lockdown measures

NHS frontline worker Emily Andre slated the UK’s lockdown measures.

All over parts of the country have been going back into a full scale lockdown under the new Tier guidelines amid the coronavirus pandemic.

And mum-of-two Emily took a stand when she insisted a national lockdown would have “massive negative repercussions” on the UK.

Drawing on her experience fighting coronavirus on the NHS frontline, the doctor argued her case in her OK! magazine column.

She also shared her relief at living in the south east of England which hasn’t been brought to a grinding halt under the lockdown yet.

She said, “We’re lucky that where we live in the south east of England nothing has changed for us in terms of the coronavirus restrictions. Many have called for a ‘circuit breaker’ lockdown lasting two or three weeks, but to me a national lockdown is a last resort. I think the negative repercussions of another full lockdown would be massive.”

Emily voiced her concerns about the massive impact lockdown has on people’s mental health, the economy and other medical conditions.

Fighting her corner, the medic reassured everyone “we are more clued up on the virus” than March when the UK went into lockdown.

She went on: “The benefits need to outweigh the risks and we need to think about people’s mental health, the economy and other medical conditions that need treatment.

She added: “I know the number of deaths has now risen over 100 for the first time in four months and doctors in intensive care in the north of England are starting to get worried but we are more clued up on the virus and we have treatments now that weren’t available back in March and April, so while we need to take it seriously, there are some improvements since earlier in the year.”

When she’s not been on the frontline, she has been at home with her husband Peter as well as their two children Mia and Theo

Also, Emily urged people to get their flu jabs as she pointed out scientists have hopes the injection could protect people from coronavirus.
