Piers Morgan has told his pal Donald Trump to admit defeat after US citizens voted to elect Joe Biden as the next president.
The 55-year-old Good Morning Britain host, who claims to have a good friendship with Trump, urged the leader to end his ‘pathetic tantrum’ or risk losing his loyal following.
The message comes two days after Joe Biden was named president elect by all networks, including Trump’s favourite channel Fox News.
So far, Donald Trump has so far refused to concede in the race and has filled his days with golf.
Writing for the Daily Mail, the ITV presenter penned a stark message for Trump and told him that his presidency was “finished. Kaput.”
Though interlaced with several flattering pointers directed at Trump, Piers ultimately begged the president to gracefully accept that he had lost the race.
“It’s time for you to stop fighting and admit defeat,” Piers penned in his lengthy message.
The journalist and presenter also went on to express scepticism that Trump’s legal battles as well as the recounts would amount to changes in the ultimate results.
While suggesting that Trump was still a “big winner,” Piers also went on to slam Donald for his failure to take climate change seriously.
At the end of his statement, Piers then pointed out that if Trump wanted his influence to remain, then he needed to prioritise American democracy.
The presenter wrote: “if you want Trumpism to dominate the Republican agenda after this election, something many will support, then stop this tantrum, put your toys back in the stroller, accept you’ve lost, call off the lawyers from their wild fraud goose chases, put a muzzle on Rudy Giuliani, wish Joe Biden well, and put American democracy before your bruised ego.”
Donald and Piers’ friendship has been fraught with tension in the past, and the US president even famously unfollowed the GMB star after he criticised the US leader.
Despite appearing to patch up their friendship with a phone call some weeks ago, it hasn’t stopped Piers fiercely criticising Donald Trump’s response to the election.
After falsely announcing that he ‘had won’ and calling for the ballot counts to stop last week, Piers fumed on GMB: “This is completely wrong, what Donald Trump is doing… for the president to stand there at 2am and denounce the result.
“This is an indefensible attack on American democracy… that is a disgrace.”
