Sheridan Smith has opened up about the struggled of being a working mother, and admits she suffers from major “mum guilt” when it comes to juggling the two.
The Gavin & Stacey star, 39, welcomed son Billy with fiancé Jamie Horn, 30, back in May, but admits she’s struggling to balance work and motherhood at times.
Taking to Instagram, Sheridan shared a quote from author and businesswoman Arianna Huffington with her 513k followers, as the post reflected her personal experience of being a working mother.
The quote read: “I think while all mothers deal with feelings of guilt, working mothers are plagued by guilt on steroids.”
Keeping it real with her fans, Sheridan penned alongside the image: “Been really feeling this lately. Is mum guilt normal?! get back from work when he’s in bed and he’s still asleep when I go to work.
“I miss him so much, hate missing precious time with him.”
Naturally, the comments section was soon flooded with supportive messages from fans and fellow mothers.
“Totally normal! And if you weren’t working you’d find something else to feel guilty about. He won’t remember this at all, only you will,” wrote one fan.
Another penned: “So normal. But mama’s gotta work to feed baby.”
While a third added: “Don’t feel guilt you’re amazing mummy to you’re baby boy and you’re doing amazing job at providing for his future.”
It comes as Sheridan revealed she’s keen on having another baby, despite only welcoming her son six months ago.
The actress revealed she never expected to have children but she is already ready to become a mother again.
Speaking on the Keep Calm and Kerry On podcast to host Kerry Ellis, Sheridan explained how her perspective had changed.
Sheridan said: “I’d love to have another baby…we’ve already spoken about it. It’s hard when you start planning work, but it would be so nice.”
