Sir Sean Connery‘s granddaughter Saskia has broken her silence following the legendary actor’s death.
It was revealed last week that the 90-year-old Hollywood legend died peacefully in his sleep in the Bahamas surrounded by loved ones.
Now his granddaughter, 24, has taken to her Instagram to pay a gushing tribute to her James Bond granddad.
Sharing an emotional message on social media alongside a heartwarming snap of the pair, Saskia called Sir Sean her “best friend”.
Saskia – who is the daughter of actor Jason Connery – penned: “A surreal goodbye to my best friend, mentor and dear grandfather. Please respect my families privacy while we process this news.”
She added: “Thank you for all the wishes and we will get back to you all soon. Heaven has gained the most legendary angel today.”
The sweet snap showed Sir Sean hold Saskia up in the sea, as she planted a sweet kiss on his cheek.
She then went on to share another snap of her famous granddad on her Instagram Story, writing: “Half mast and forever missed.”
The Scottish actor passed away at the age of 90 and was best known for his portrayal of 007, being the first to bring the role to the big screen.
The actor enjoyed a long and distinguished career but is best known for being the original James Bond, and to many fans the best ever.
He brought Ian Fleming’s secret agent to the big screen in 1962’s Dr No and went on to star in seven hit films in total.
With Bond propelling him to international stardom, Sir Sean enjoyed more than 40 years in the industry during which time he won an Oscar, two Baftas and three Golden Globes.
The proud Scotsman was knighted in 2000 for his services to film drama.
Acting legends including Robert De Niro, Kevin Costner, Sir Michael Caine and those who followed Sir Sean as 007, including Daniel Craig and George Lazenby joined the world of film and beyond in remembering the late actor.
